The District of Invermere is committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen our community and enhance quality of life for local residents. Through our Financial Assistance (Grants-in-Aid), Council provides discretionary funding to eligible organizations delivering projects, programs, and events that directly benefit the people of Invermere.

Eligibility & Priorities

Preference is given to:

  • Locally based organizations
  • Organizations registered as a society (or affiliated with a parent society) under the laws of British Columbia or Canada
  • Organizations whose activities primarily benefit residents of the District of Invermere

Applicants must submit a fully completed application using the prescribed form. Retroactive applications are not accepted, and funding will not be issued until the District’s Financial Plan has been adopted. Each organization may submit one application per funding stream per calendar year. 

Ineligible Events

Financial assistance will not be provided for:

  • For-profit events or organizations
  • Political events (e.g., partisan rallies or issue-based fundraisers)
  • Religious events (e.g., Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving celebrations)
  • Industry-based events (e.g., oil and gas or forestry industry events)
  • Events that are part of a conference or workshop

Funding Streams

1. Annual Program Grant

Designed for organizations seeking start-up funding for new programs or major community events.

  • Total annual budget: $20,000
  • Maximum per application: $1,500

Application Deadline: November 30 (for consideration in the following budget year)
Council reviews eligible applications and makes funding decisions by January 31.

Requirements:

  • Submission of a final report upon completion
  • Full return of funds if the project or event does not proceed

2. Special Events Grant

Intended to support:

  • Unforeseen special events (e.g., youth or seniors attending Provincial Championships or similar significant opportunities that arise during the year)
    • Total annual budget: $5,000
    • Maximum per application: $250
  • Signature events held at the Columbia Valley Centre (CVC)
    • Total annual budget: $2,500
    • Maximum per application: One full-day CVC Not-for-Profit rate equivalency

Special Event applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
