Invermere Canada Day Parade- Important Spectator Safety Information

Tuesday, July 1, 2025, 11:00AM Parade Start. Downtown Invermere
Hosted by District of Invermere & Invermere Legion.
Route: Starts at Pothole Park, proceeds down 7th Avenue to Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena.

Spectator Areas:

  • Spectators MUST remain on sidewalks and curbs only!!
  • Chairs and seating are allowed only on sidewalks/curbs, not in parking stalls or roads.
  • Parking stalls along the parade route will be kept clear to maintain safe separation between spectators and floats.

Goodie Distribution:

  • Parade participants will hand out goodies directly to spectators at the curb/ sidewalks.
  • Parade Participants WILL NOT be throwing items from parade vehicles or floats to avoid spectators stepping into the road.

Crowd Control:

  • Volunteers and event staff will monitor crowd behavior and provide directions.
  • Spectators must follow signage, volunteer instructions, and not cross the parade route during the event.

Supervision and Accessibility:

  • Parents/guardians MUST supervise children at all times.
  • Emergency vehicle access must be maintained clear at all times.

Prohibited Items and Behavior:

  • No pets or alcohol permitted on or near the parade route.Smoking is prohibited in spectator areas.

Road Closures & Parking Restrictions:

  • In Effect: 9:00 AM – approximately 12:30 PM

Roads closed to traffic and parking include:

  • 7th Ave from 4th St (Telus building) to 13th St.
  • 5A St and 9th Ave near Pothole Park (parade staging area).
  • All cross streets intersecting 7th Ave (including Main St in downtown).
  • 13th St and section of 4th Ave by Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena.

Detour Information:

  • Please use 10th Ave as an alternative traffic route during closures.
  • Use 4th Ave behind the Arena (before 10:30 AM) to access stores.
  • Drivers are kindly asked to respect barricades, signage, and follow directions from volunteers along the route.
