Are You Safe in the Shallows of Kinsmen Beach?

The District of Invermere is setting up our outdoor movie screen at Kinsmen Beach for a special shark-themed evening featuring the thriller The Shallows.
Watch from the water — bring your floaties, kayak, or paddleboard — or stay dry and cozy on the beach with your chair! This movie is PG-13. Viewer discretion is advised.
Bring your friends, your courage, and your best lake float — this is one movie night you won’t forget!! This event is weather dependent. Please check our social media for updates closer to the date!

No lifeguards will be on duty. Enter the water at your own risk.

⚠️ Swimmer’s Itch Advisory
Swimmer’s Itch has been reported at Kinsmen Beach.
If you choose to enter the water:
• Limit time in water and avoid sitting still
• Dry off immediately after exiting the lake
• Rinse or shower off with clean water as soon as possible
• Consider wearing a full-coverage swimsuit or water shirt

✅ General Safety Reminders
🔹 FLOAT CLOSE TO SHORE
• Stay within the marked float zone (20–30m from beach)
• No swimming or deep-water access allowed
🔹 GLOW TO BE SEEN
• All floaters should wear a glowstick or waterproof light
🔹 LIFEJACKETS RECOMMENDED
• Especially important for children and weaker swimmers
• Children must be supervised by an adult
🔹 NO ALCOHOL OR INTOXICATION
•This is a family-friendly event —please respect safety rules
🔹 LAND VIEWING OPTION
•You don’t have to be in the water to enjoy the film! Bring a chair or blanket and watch from shore.
