District of Invermere and the Village of Radium Hot Springs Support the Columbia Valley Housing Society

The District of Invermere and the Village of Radium Hot Springs have recently made financial contributions to support the Columbia Valley Housing Society.

On March 26, 2024, Invermere Council directed that the District of Invermere provide $25,000 to help top up the Regional District of East Kootenay’s operating grant for the Columbia Valley Housing Society (CVHS). And the Village of Radium Hot Springs Council included $10,000 as a discretionary grant in aid for the CVHS operations in the Village’s 2024 budget.

“The District of Invermere Council strongly supports the work and efforts of the CVHS to provide affordable housing units for Columbia Valley residents. Invermere Council was disappointed that the RDEK Board did not agree to provide the CVHS with their full request for financial support in the Region’s 2024 Budget. In order to ensure the CVHS is able to continue its important work, the District of Invermere and the Village of Radium Hot Springs are offsetting the funding gap left by the RDEK.” Mayor Al Miller, District of Invermere.

“The CVHS has accomplished so much in its first year, and I believe it is for the benefit of our residents to ensure this group is funded, not only to help in Radium but across the Columbia Valley”, said Radium Hot Springs’ Mayor Mike Gray. “Radium Council is pleased to support the society and work to help address the housing needs in our community.”
