On Saturday, March 4^th, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., the District of Invermere will hold the local by-elections for one councillor

You are allowed to vote if you are qualified and are registered as:

• a resident elector (i.e., you live in the JURISDICTION}, OR
• a non-resident property elector (i.e., you live elsewhere in BC but own property in the JURISDICTION).

Resident Electors 

• 18 years of age or older on general voting day for the election or assent voting; and
• a Canadian citizen; and
• a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration; and
• a resident of the LOCAL GOVERNMENT; and
• not disqualified under the Local Government Act, or any other enactment from voting in an election or otherwise disqualified by law.

Non-Resident Property Electors 

• 18 years of age or older on general voting day for the election or assent voting; and
• a Canadian citizen; and
• a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration; and
• a registered owner of real property in the District of Invermere for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration; and
• not entitled to register as a resident elector; and
  • the only persons who are registered owners of the real property, either as joint tenants or tenants in common, are individuals who are not holding the property in trust for a corporation or another trust; and
  • not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or otherwise disqualified by law; and
• if there is more than one registered owner of the property, only one of those individuals may, with the written consent of the majority of the owners, register as a non-resident property elector.

In order to obtain a mall ballot, you must submit the following information to the District of Invermere Office in person or email at corporateservices@invermere.net between February 7^th and March 2^nd, 2023 by 4:00 pm:

1. Full name,
2. Residential address,
3. Address of the property in relation to which you are voting (for non-resident property electors),
4. Method of delivery of your mail ballot package:
   1. pick up at the Local Government Hall, OR
   2. pick up at the Local Government Hall by a person authorized by you (identification required), OR
   3. regular letter mail through Canada Post to residential address, OR
   4. regular letter mail through Canada

An application form is available on the website for your convenience. Please note that once you request a mail ballot, you will not be issued another ballot for this election. 

If you request a mail ballot by February 8^th, 2023, the District of Invermere will send out mail ballot packages commencing on or about February 13^th, 2023. In order to ensure that you receive your mail ballot in a timely fashion, your mail ballot package will only be available for pick up at the District of Invermere for any request made after the deadline

To be counted for the election or assent voting, your completed ballot must be received by the Chief Election Officer no later than 8:00 p.m. on March 4, 2023. You can mail the completed ballot package or drop it off at the District of Invermere office.
