Valley Appreciation Day – Temporary Road Closures and Traffic Advisory

Residents and visitors are advised that temporary road closures will be in effect on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm to accommodate Valley Appreciation Day in Downtown Invermere.

Valley Appreciation Day is a free community celebration featuring a complimentary pancake breakfast, live entertainment, family activities, community displays, a classic car display and the Invermere Farmers’ & Artists’ Market.

Temporary Road Closures

The following areas will be closed to vehicle traffic from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm:

  • 13th St from the intersection of 7th Ave to the BC Liquor Store.
  • The roadway in front of the Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena due to cleanup following the Bull Riding in the Rockies event.
  • Sections of 12th St, including the area adjacent to Village Arts, Stolen Church, River Gems, and Book Bar, where a classic car display will be featured.
  • Lakeview Parking Lot (Farmers’ & Artists’ Market location).

Traffic and Parking Information

Please note the following:

  • 7th Ave will remain open to traffic and parking throughout the event.
  • 4th Ave will remain open; however, access to 13th St in front of the Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena will be closed.
  • The alleyway between the Curling Club and Selkirk Cellulars & Office Supplies, as well as the alley adjacent to the BC Liquor Store, will remain open to provide access for businesses, deliveries, local traffic, and nearby parking areas.

No Overnight Parking

To allow for event setup, no overnight parking will be permitted in the following areas:

  • 13th St
  • Sections of 12th St- including the area adjacent to Village Arts, Stolen Church, River Gems, and Book Bar, where a classic car display will be featured.
  • Lakeview Parking Lot

Vehicles remaining in these areas after 6:00 am may be subject to towing at the owner’s expense.

 

Plan Ahead

Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes, allow extra travel time, obey all road closure signage, and use caution when travelling through the downtown core. Increased pedestrian traffic is expected throughout the day.
