Sewer System Jet Rodding: June 8 to 12 and June 22 to 26

 In Notice of Work, Water

The District of Invermere will be jet rodding the sewer system over two weeks this month:

  • Week 1: June 8 to 12
  • Week 2: June 22 to 26
  • Time: weekdays, between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM

Jet rodding is routine maintenance that keeps our wastewater system running smoothly. It uses a high-pressure water hose to clear out roots, grease, and other buildup that can cause blockages and backups if left unattended.

What you may notice, and what to do

While crews are working in your area, the added pressure in the system can cause two harmless things:

Toilet water splashing. Please keep your toilet lids closed during the work. Any splashing is from the clean water in the bowl, not from the sewer system.

A sewage odour. This can happen if the P-traps (the curved pipes under sinks, tubs, showers, and floor drains) dry out. They hold water that blocks sewer gases from entering your home. To clear the smell, run the water in all your fixtures for at least one minute to refill the traps and restore the seal.
